Hydraulic manifolds are hired so multiple tools (usually rams) can be used off a single pump. Manifolds really come into there own when lifting large items therefore need multiple rams because the single pump ensures the rams all lift at the same time, keeping the load stable. The four way manifolds have a great functionality whereby each hydraulic feed can be opened and shut individually allowing for any combination of rams to be lifted and lowered. The six way manifolds are straight splitters where all six rams are either raised or lowered.
